Costa Almeria
One of Spain’s best kept secrets – Costa
de Almeria is the mainland of Europe’s warmest and sunniest region
with over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. The province is steeped
in history dating back to the Phoenician times, or earlier, and
this is
reflected in its picturesque towns and villages. Along the coast
are defensive towers from the 16th to 18th Century, built to
protect the
coast from the pirates of the Mediterranean. The whole area,
with its natural coastline, national parks, mountains and valleys,
provide a
sense of space and, shielded from the pressures of tourism, remains
unspoilt and peaceful.
The Eastern coast of Almeria remains undeveloped with many sandy
coves surrounded by yellow and purple blossoming flowers and the
air is filled with the smell of wild sage.
SAN JUAN de LOS TERREROS is a small traditional
village, situated on this eastern coast, close to the town
of Aguilas on the border
with Costa Calida. Almeria Airport is situated just one hour
and 10 minutes drive away, with Murcia and Alicante Airports
approximately one and a half hours’ drive. In 2007 the new
international airport at CORVERA will open, close to Murcia town.
There will
be a new motorway linking this airport with Aguilas, reducing
the travel
time to around 50 minutes.
There are several established 18 hole golf courses in the area
but a NEW 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE is being constructed in San Juan de
Los Terreros, alongside the glorious sandy beach, with a second
18 hole course a little further inland at Pulpi. A new marina is
also planned.
This is a really exciting and unspoilt area of Spain, offering
superb investment potential for the more discerning purchaser.
